Dear Friend, The Ancient Order of Hibernians is a national Irish-American fraternal organization, founded in New York City in 1836. It has divisions in most American cities and has become the largest and most influential organization of people of Irish ancestry in the world. The A.O.H. has kept the doors open to Irish immigrants and created a climate which promoted the acceptance of Irish people in all aspects of American life. Division 5 in San Francisco, organized in 1901, has always been aiding Irish and local charitable causes. As an example, we gave financial support recently to the victims of the Omagh bombing tragedy. Also, during the last four years, we have been supplying labor and materials for repairs at the GRACENTER, a residential treatment facility for low-income women with drug or alcohol addiction, which is operated by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. Our involvement has led to seizable reduction of our funds. Please make checks payable to "A.O.H. Division 5" and mail to Tom Commins, Chairman, Fund Raising Committee, 126 Wawona Street, San Francisco, CA 94127, or deposit your donation directly into the A.O.H. Division 5 Fund Raising Trust Account #0117653477 at any Wells Fargo Bank and mail confirmation to Tom Commins. This is our first public appeal ever and it it made especially to those who are benefiting from the fabric of American life which the Ancient Order if Hibernians helped fashion. All donations are tax deductible and will be gratefully acknowledged. Our FEDERAL TAX ID # is 68-0457204. Thank you in anticipation of your generous response to this worthy cause. Sincerely yours, Tom Commins
